Best tale for me

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed”
-Mahatma Gandhi

Knight’s, Pardoner’s, Miller’s and Wife of Bath’s were the tales presented in our class, authored by the father of English literature, Geoffrey Chaucer. All of these tales have beautiful story and lessons to learn with. Most of these tales are story of love but among others, the most I want is Pardoner’s tale because it has beautiful story and have so much moral lessons that we can get from it.
The Pardoner’s tale is a story of three friends who went in a forest to give justice to the death of their friend, but they found their own death, instead. Perhaps, the first thing that enters in your mind is that they were also killed by the same person who did, but you’re wrong. What really happen to them? This is the real story.

Summary (Based on my own understanding)

Three friends drunk with wine went to the forest to find Death, a thief who killed their friend. While they were walking, they met an old woman and they asked her if she saw Death. She replied that the last time she saw death was under the tree. So they search for that tree but they did not find Death there, instead, they found treasure so they divided it equally among themselves. Then, they asked the youngest among them to buy food for them to eat, but he planned to put poison in the food to kill his two friends to get all the treasure. Unknowingly, his two friends plan to kill him, so when she came back he was stabbed to death by the two. Then his two friends ate the food with poison and were also killed. That’s what I mean that they found their own death in the forest.

The lesson I learned from this tale is that too much greedy is a sin which can cause our death, like what happen to the friends in the story. This also shows that money is the root of all evil in this world. Therefore, let us be contented on what God has given to us, let us count are blessings and be thankful to Him.

Thank you for being my hero

A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares.

To be a hero doesn't mean you need to kill a monster, to become one. For me, a true hero is willing to sacrifice his time, his life and everything in him just for the one he loves. He is the type of person who is willing to teach everything for you so you wouldn't become a menace in the society but to be a good citizen instead. Those qualifications are in my parents and they are my heroes.
When I was a child, I was so very naughty; I used to quarrel with my playmates. But despite of that, my parents are so very understanding and they never stop giving me pieces of advice. Above all, they provide me all my needs and wants despite of me being hard-headed son.
I usually notice from my parents that every time we go to mall they always prioritized what we want to buy such as toys, shirts and food even they could no longer buy the things they want. They are always there every time we need them even in their busy moments. They usually advice us based on their experience that’s why we listen to them because it will help us to become responsible parents someday.

Lastly, I consider them as heroes since my father and my mother are so supportive to us. My father even if he’s the only breadwinner in our family he’s still able to enroll us in private schools. He’s also able to pay our tuition fees on time and buy some of our wants. Despite of his busy schedules, he’s still able to spend time with us especially in playing basketball. My mother despite of us being stubborn and naughty, she’s still able to raise us as good children. My parents always remind us to be honest in all ways and be prayerful all the time. They are also very concern with the foods we eat and always remind us not to eat junk foods for us to be healthy. Indeed, my parents are heroes in their own ways.

I can only say that through my parents loving care and their kindness which is beyond compare, I firmly believe that I will become successful person someday and with that, I want to say thank you and I love you to my parents...
